In week 2 of our ‘Know Your Bible’ class, Rev. Al Krummenacher runs through what the Bible is NOT, what the Bible IS, which is essentially a love story with a happy ending. Join us for an enriching study of the book you thought you knew.”

In “Know Your Bible” week 3, Rev. Chris Knepp teaches extensive details on the early Reformers of the Christian Church: John Wycliffe, Martin Luther and John Calvin. To be continued in week 4!

In week 4 of 'Know Your Bible', Rev. Chris Knepp finishes surveying the Reformation Era (esp. John Calvin) up to the publication of the Geneva Bible and the King James; then we move on to the authority and interpretation of scripture, including all of the PCUSA's major doctrines, confessions, and catechisms up to the present time.

In week 6 of 'Know Your Bible', Rev. Al Krummenacher turns to the books that make up the New Testament. Who wrote the Synoptic Gospels? Who wrote the Gospel of John and Revelation? Who wrote the Epistles? What order were the various books written vs. the order they are placed in the Bible? How do we know what we know? Al dives in to answer all these questions.

In "Know Your Bible" week 7, Rev. Chris Knepp talks all about the canon of scripture and how it evolved into the collection of books that we now know.

In week 8 of ‘Know Your Bible’, Rev. Al Krummenacher takes us on a journey to where the various Bible translations and versions in history came from, starting from Emperor Constantine's famous "Fifty Bibles" to the New Revised Standard Version 2021 edition. Join us for this masterful survey of bibles and translations you may not have known (and ones you thought you knew!).

In week 9 of Know Your Bible, Rev. Al Krummenacher explains Hermeneutics (including Exegesis and Eisegesis), and takes a two-pronged exploration into how Jesus interpreted the scriptures, and how the apostle Paul interpreted the scriptures.

In this installment of Know Your Bible, Rev. Al Krummenacher surveys the history of various types of interpretation of scripture, ranging from the Middle Ages all the way to the present. He covers the principle figures in original Orthodoxy, the Protestant Reformers, and the rise of Fundamentalism. Along the way, we hear of additional notable figures, from Albert Schweitzer to Clarence Darrow and the Scopes Monkey Trial! Join us for an enlightening class.

In Week 11 of 'Know Your Bible', Pastoral Resident Kevin Ireland sits in and gives a lesson called "When Translation Matters". Kevin covers many examples of situations where the same verse in different translations of the Bible seem to say different things. Along the way we'll explore the results of these varying interpretations (and we'll find out why some classical sculptures of Moses have horns!). Join us for an enlightening lesson with interactive discussion!

Rev. Al Krummenacher concludes the Know Your Bible class by covering the Three Steps to Studying the Bible, and the Presbyterian Guidelines for Interpreting Scripture. We hope you have enjoyed this illuminating class!
