Dr. David Barstow
David and Linda Barstow were members of WHPC for more than 25 years, from the early nineties until they moved to Corvallis Oregon in 2017. Dave describes himself as “a computer scientist by training and an AIDS activist by calling.” The calling happened right here at WHPC in August of 2006, leading eventually to an active role in the global faith response to HIV and AIDS, focusing on the role of local faith communities in reducing the stigma associated with HIV and AIDS. But the calling that Dave felt also led to more than a decade of partnership between WHPC and our sister church in Lusaka, Zambia. During that time, Dave and Linda led many summer mission trips to Zambia, and Dave was there to lay the cornerstone of Westlake Hill Prayer House, a project that this year’s Christmas offering will help to finish.
