The things we learned early on in school, like “sticks and stones can break my bones, but words can never hurt me”, we realize as we grow up, are not as true as we once thought. Other sayings like, “you get what you get, so don’t pitch a fit”, seem to take on an even deeper meaning as we age. Adages like these have their roots in our Bible in the Wisdom literature of the Book of Proverbs. During August, we will be looking at 5 different proverbs that will stand the test of time. Our hope is that these wise adages will challenge us to take a fresh look at some of the basic lessons we learned in our School Days.
